この曲は実体験に基づいた曲で、メンバーのニコラス・ペトリッカが、この曲のコーラスや歌詞の完成前にLAのパーティーに行ったとき。バーで酒を注文しても出てくるのが遅く愚痴を言っていると、女の子に「 shut up and dance with me」と言われたみたいです。

・クリプトナイト = スーパーマンを無力にする隕石 = この歌詞では、主人公を無力にさせてしまうほど彼女に夢中。以降のベース音や弱々しい光も無力（心地良い）といった意味合いだと思います。
・be bound to = ～にちがいない、確実に～する。
・A backless dress and some beat up sneaks = 彼女は実際には背中の開いたドレスに赤いコンバースオールスターを履いていたとのこと。
・“You’re holding back” = この歌詞で最も悩んだ箇所です。直訳すると、「隠す」「我慢」「遠慮」「ためらう」などですが、どれもしっくりこず…・結果、記述したような日本語にしました。「Hold Back」の意味については以下のサイトを見てみて下さい。
